Hi cow people,
I would like to get a family milch cow the spring after next, was thinking of Dexters since they are smaller and we don't have much potential pasture room. We are small milk drinkers so I'd have to sell some, but how much cream does a Dexter produce? Would a mini-jersey be better? What about friendliness factor? I'm not exsperienced at all, have a little sister and brother, so I don't want a mean cow!

Also, any tips on cow husbandry would be apprieciated. I will look some more at BackyardHerds.com's forum.

Thank you!

Diana

I like mini zebu............. but that's just me. They seem to be easy going, can be cheaper than some of the other minis... at least around here and are suppose to have a nice milk, about a gallon per day. My heifer is still young, but she is going to be a mini milker. My bull is just a big ham......
