Best rooster breeds

Orps are also supposed to be very mellow and more docile.
I got three straight run Buff Orps a year ago. Of course, all cockerels. Two became very aggressive at 4 months when hormones hit, both to me and the pullets. They were culled soon after.

The third guy is ok with the girls, but oft times "forgets" I'm the boss. I now take a big stick into the run when I go in. Sometimes he's fine, sometimes he isn't. The stick forces him back until he "remembers" who's in charge.

I have a Black Australorp that is pretty docile right now. I have had him for about a year. He is even good with the kids. We had a Barred Rock roo that was fin with my wife and me but would chase and attempt to flog the kids when we were not around.

Hello, I am aware that most roosters are aggressive in nature, but has anyone had any luck with any breed in particular? The best rooster I had was a Dominique, but unfortunately passed away. He was great with my hens and also people.
My roo demands to be petted and won't let you ignore him .No he's not a pet but he wants to be.

What are you looking for in a rooster? Size , color egg specifics , skin color , easy on the girls .... ect

I would try to narrow the breeds down. I’m sure many people will have mixed experiences with their boys. I currently have 2 Orp and 1 Biel rooster. All my boys are non-aggressive and easily handed. I think it’s important to have enough girls for the boys. This helps curb their desire to make you one of his girls.

A bit jealous here. Sigh. Pet him for me, ok?
I've been wanting a flock of Dominiques for a while so I built a coop and placed an order for (10 ) day old pullets back in January.I only kept 5 of the baby pullets when they arrived and kept one of the roosters they'd misidentified at the hatchery.I gave the other 4 chicks to a friend. This little roo is only 8 weeks old but he's already guarding his hens like a boss!I'll give him a hug for you! He'll appreciate it!

My chickens' most favorite treat is their food, wetted into a mash. I don't have any worries about giving them that every day.

Sometimes I mix in something besides water, like yogurt or whey or kombucha.
My chicks have been on medicated chick starter since they were 3 days old. I plan on fermenting their layer feed.
