I have a mixed flock of 12 week old BO, RIR, BR, Wyondett, Silkie,Scicilian Buttercup, Americauna and a couple I don't know what breed they are. If you were to have only 1 Rooster, what breed would it be?

I would be more interested in his temperament than the breed of rooster. I would probably take my time, talk to people, and try to find someone who was rehoming a nice rooster because they had too many. That way you would hopefully get something with a nice temperament (and they are out there) as opposed to taking your chances on an unknown chick.

Thanks for the advice. I really don't know if I want a Rooster. He would have to be Gentle. Lol. I have read that they increase egg production and will help protect my girl's, so that is what I am think inking of. Also, if I had a Broody Hen that would hatch a few egg's that would be exciting. I am new to all of this and kicking around thoughts.

X2 on the above. You don't want a rooster that is going to injure someone and you don't want to breed aggression into your flock. Of the breeds on your list Silkies and Buff Orpingtons usually have the most gentle roosters, but there are always exceptions with any breed. Also, due to its smaller size, a Silkie rooster would have more trouble mating with your standard sized hens.
