Best Treatment for Vent Gleet and Sour Crop

Also, I'm not sure if she's pooping enough to check it. I did give her Valblazen whenever this started but her crop hasn't been emptying so I doubt it's done anything. I have the equipment to do fecal floats but learning how stalled whenever I lost my Papa Pete and have been so down and out since. I need to get back to life asap.

One other thing, is it normal for their molt to stall? She still hasn't finished molting but hasn't ever really lost more than a few feathers each day. I wonder if this relates to what's going on

I'm sorry that you lost Papa Pete, I remember you mentioning him before:hugs

I'm not sure what's going on with her, but if you don't have enough Fluconazole for a full treatment, then I would go with giving the vaginal yeast cream as outlined in the article by Carol until you are able to source the medication.

I may have missed it, but is she laying eggs at all? Any bloat or fluid in the abdomen?
Generally when I my hens had crop issues, this was a symptom of reproductive problems. Just a thought there.

Thank you so much. I was very lucky to have him as my Grandpa.

I'm hoping to secure more Fluconazole tomorrow. Either way, I'm trying to find some fishzole to keep on hand as well. I have 150mg left right now, so that's 3 maximum doses and if I comprehended everything correctly, that's 3 days worth. I hid the piece of pill in a raisin to begin with and she wouldn't take it but she did take the other one without a pill. I then tried hiding it in boiled egg yolk and the pill disappeared before I even knew she had it. Thankfully she was the only bird there or I'd wonder if she even got it. It's obvious that she's starving. This is just so difficult not knowing what to treat for. I feel so guilty and it's just eating me alive. Too bad treating her for multiple ailments won't work and could possibly make things worse quickly. I hate the uncertainty but I guess that's life in reality.

Thank you for your time and knowledge. I really appreciate you taking the time to read my ramblings and sharing your thoughts. You help me with those feelings of failure that seem to be taking over. I keep going back and forth with how I should continue treatment. I just can't trust my own intuition with this since I'm not very experienced. My sweet little girl keeps trying to reassure me saying "You're doing everything you know to do. She's always been loved. No matter what, she's lived a good life." I know it's inevitable to lose some, especially when you have more and more birds, but that doesn't make it easier. Too bad the aggressive boys rarely suffer like this (not that I'd wish sickness on any of them ever)

I'm sorry that I didn't even mention egg laying. I wasn't ever able to figure out who lays what out of the five girls in this flock. I know that her eggs were a shade of brown that matched the BR hens. The other girls are SLWyandotte's. I might have the shades mixed up, but 3 girls laid eggs of the same color and the other 2 laid darker eggs. I have collected 5 eggs in one day maybe twice from this flock this year. She's the last one that started molting and honestly I don't think she's finished, even though it's been a while. The other girls were obviously in molt but other than collecting 2 gorgeously perfect wing feathers from the ground, it's been pretty much unnoticeable and most of her feathers don't look new. Come to think of it, I believe I've only noticed her in the nesting box twice this year. Unfortunately you may be on to something with my precious Darla. I'm going out to check on her and wash her butt right before bed. I'll try to feel for anything abnormal on her. My other big girls seem to have some fat under there. Is it supposed to be firm, flabby or in between? I have a HUGE pullet that I made a post about months back because I was concerned with how big she was (seriously I believe she has some meat bird in her not so distant line of ancestors) and this pullet has quite a bit of excessive weight (in spite of not allowing treats and only feeding flock raiser) so I have her and other pullets that I feel like are normal weight and body condition and Darla's flockmates that feel bigger than my other hens and pullets. I wonder if something is wrong with the entire flock? Fashion and Izzy (SLWyandotte's /flockmates of Darla's) seem to shake whenever they run but their keel bone and body condition around that seems normal based on charts I've seen here. Either way, I'll give her underside a good look over.

Here's her poop from 1:30am. There seems to be contents than before but she doesn't want anything to eat. I just took her out of the coop and brought her inside. I'll try again in the morning if she is able to continue her fight. Between her legs feels a little firm.

Update from 1:55am
She ate a little bit of boiled egg yolk and is drinking some water before I take her back out to her coop.

She is drinking quite a bit of water. I haven't witnessed this before. I'll let her drink until she's done. I wonder if I should leave her in a crate inside with this water so she can drink as much as she needs. They'll be getting up in 5.5 hours. I don't know. She really likes this drinker or she's really thirsty. I'm anxious to see how her crop feels after all of this water.

This is Darla in the middle of the night. Please overlook her butt feathers as I had just washed them. She still keeps putting her head down and looking between her legs. She doesn't stay like that but she hasn't done that before this started. Her eyes stay open. I thought it was her crop before but I'm beginning to think she's puzzled about why she's having discomfort down there. I don't know. My poor sweet girl. I wish I could take her to the vet for some diagnostics. If the vet visit went anything like it did with my duck, it'd be just like tossing hundreds out the window of a car while driving 90mph in the middle of nowhere.
