Oh, definitely. Keeping two male bettas in the same tank is incredibly risky and takes a lot of knowledge and experience.

You should do a 40%-50% water change every week, including vacuuming the gravel. So, for a 10 gallon tank, you would take 4-5 gallons out every week, and replace it with fresh, dechlorinated water.
Nope, disagree. 10% weekly for regular maintenance, no more than 30% IF there’s an issue.

Yes, different varieties of RCS. I know that it’s usually recommended that they get smaller, more frequent water changes, but that isn’t an option for me right now, unfortunately. :/
I’m going to be doing a lot of large water changes, mainly because the algae is getting so bad, then I’ll probably go back to smaller ones after I’ve dealt with that. Also, I should mention that most of my shrimp are mixed colors, so they’re a bit more hardy than most.
RCS, red crystal shrimp? Those are not neo’s and have very strict parameter requirements. Can u post pics? Unless you have your own RO filter it is difficult to get the water right, making water changes a pain. I had to shutdown my tank because thats the one my cat kept getting into and my water supplier was unreliable.

Red cherry shrimp. I’ll post some pictures anyway.

About half of the shrimp pictured are color crosses.

Cat TV. Best channel ever
Pic #3 she also knows shes not allowed on the table; or to drink out of the tank; or to fall into the tank when the lids off due to cleaning. Farthead. :lau :lau :lau
You’re not a farthead, she is.
@HappyClucker7 and @EggSighted4Life sound like my fish store guys. That s a good thing.
You should have posted this on the something fishy thread ;)
There's a FISH THREAD!?! Too late now. Whoops. Don't worry-cat is NOT allowed in the room during cleaning.

When changing the water, do you have to prep the new water beforehand? I've seen different opinions on how much water changing to do....I think that a medium that I've come up with is 10% every other week, and 20% the weeks in between? Does that sound good? Bad? More? Less?

I saw on @Fishychix 's post that they have a measuring thing...is that helpful for doing water changes?

No, you should definitely do more. Small water changes are not good enough for your fish. you should do 40%-50% water changes each week.
You have to dechlorinate the water before putting it in the tank.
