pips&peeps :

We found out yesterday that our homeowners will be dropping us come renewal time because we have "four horses" and my "chickens".Thanks,

We have Safeco and pay a bit for the "farm" but they cover it with no problem (and have for many years now). They found out when they sent someone to take pictures of the home when we first insured with them. The insurance guy called and asked about the animals. Pretty hard not to claim them when they have pictures of them on the property. Hope you find someone to cover you. I hate insurance companies as much as banks, but I really can't complain about Safeco (except of course our premium is too high!)

Insurance varies State to state and you can tell - In NY Pitss ,Rotts and Shepards were hard to get a carrier. Here in Ohio Insurance is way different , and then Different in PA . We have always had the same carrier - and the policy was sure tested in 1985 when the Tornado wrecked everything and my father- in -law was killed.

Our carrier hasn't asked what we have but we have a 4 horse Barn which is insured and used to be filled ---

Your insurance in the U.S must be so different to what it is here in Australia.I live rural and get a discount on my insurance as I don't live in the city. Never been asked ever about animals or trampolines. Our home and contents policies have a liability thing built into them that covers you for about $3million I think I someone hurts themselves at your place. Our premiums for the year are way less too.
The fire thing doesn't go on insurance here it is paid on your land taxes (rates).
