Biden - Palin Debate, Anyone watch it?

I watched it twice and rewatched certain bits to make sure I had actually heard what I thought I had. The term 'dumbing down of America' comes to mind.

Basically, she reminded me of a waitress with the winking, etc. "Can I get ya some coffee with that?" wink

I was happy for her that she didn't do as poorly as she has lately - those interviews were painful - but I cringe at the thought of her ever becoming president and going toe to toe with some of our enemies. I do not want a 'good ol' girl' standing between the safety of my grandchildren and the 'bad guys'. I'd much rather have a dragon lady or mama bear like Hillary Clinton.

I hate my choices for this election. Our relatives are pushing us to vote for Obama - and they're Republican!

Try being a conservative in Connecticut. Well, we do have an awesome FEMALE
REPUBLICAN GOVERNER & JOE LEIBERMAN!!!! I suppose not all is bad.

debates are 1 of the worse ways to "get to know" them,,, all it is , is a movie,, everything is scripted,, they know the ?'s that are gonna be asked,, and they have the answers either memorized, or on that piece of paper in front of them,,, wonder why MORE dont do the "town hall" visits anymore,,hehe

Oh, ParkerVA you are making me feel hopeful too! I love VA, and many people in it, but I'll love it even more when it goes for Obama!

Well, ParkerVA, I have an Easter Egger (not technically an "Americana", I know), and none of the candidates have spoken to her at all. However my RIR walks around the yard saying, "Ba-raaack! Ba-raaack!", so I guess we know who has HER vote!

TGIF, by the way!

I'm doing my best chickiebaby... I volunteer 3 nights a week!

I LOVE THIS PROPOSAL !!

I'm against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.
Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in
a We Deserve It Dividend.
To make the math simple, let's assume there are
200,000,000
bonafide adults in the U.S.
Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman
and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up..
So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billon that equals $425,000.00.
My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a
We Deserve It Dividend.
Of course, it would NOT be tax free.
So let's assume a tax rate of 30%.
Every individual 18+ has t o pay $127,500.00 in taxes.
That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.
But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket.
A husband and wife has $595,000.00.
What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?
Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved.
Repay college loans - what a great boost to new grads
Put away money for college - it'll be there
Save in a bank - create money to loan to entrepreneurs.
Buy a new car - create jobs
Invest in the market - capital drives growth
Pay for your parent's medical insurance - health care improves

Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean - or else
Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the folks
who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company
that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces.
If we're going to re-distribute wealth let's really do it...instead of trickling out
a puny $1000.00 ( "vote buy" ) economic incentive.
If we're going to do an $85 billion bailout, let's bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+!
As for AIG - liquidate it.
Sell off its parts.
Let American General go back to being American General.
Sell off the real estate.
Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.
Here's my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn't. Sure it's a crazy idea that can "never work."
But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!
How do you spell Economic Boom?
I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion
We Deserve It Dividend more than I do the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC .
And remember, The Birk plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5 Billion is returned
instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.
Ahhh...I feel so much better getting that off my chest.

"I really dread the thought of Obama as the Commander in Chief." I must say that I could not agree more. This is a scary time in our country's history and future. The deciding vote for our President is more important now than ever.

It is a shame that so many Americans think that our presence in the Middle East is based upon our foreign oil interests alone. Have we all forgotten what happens when terrorism is allowed to flourish? Thank God for our dedicated men and women who have put their lives on the line to protect our country. They are not standing guard over oil reserves... they are extinguishing terrorism and preventing Al Qaida from getting a stronghold in Iran, Iraq, & Pakistan. If Al Qaida is allowed to gain strength again - and with monetary support from foreign oil strongholds they most assuredly will - they will ramp up their efforts to "strike down their enemy" and we will see our freedoms and liberties once again attacked.

Our troops are helping to rebuild these countries so that they CAN STAND ON THEIR OWN. The soldiers are helping to train soldiers in other countries so that they can protect their own government from collapse again. They are showing the people how to rebuild their economy and infrastructure. But this process does not happen overnight. God Bless our Soldiers. Thank you for your devotion.

Do we as Americans realize what quick withdrawal of our troops from foreign soil really means? Terrorism is a real and constant threat to our American society. We are viewed as the land of the free. We are a threat to all other countries that serve to oppress their people. If our soldiers were brought home today - I hate to think of the peril that our country would soon be facing. Have we all forgotten what happens when terrorism takes hold and is allowed to grow? Our troops are thwarting terrorism training camps and stamping out the spread of hate toward Americans. They daily patrol and keep the spread of terrorism to a minimum.

A question to the politicians promising us quick withdrawal from Iraq: Do you really want to pull out of the Middle East when our freedom and civil liberties are at stake? I do not want to see another American soldier killed - but what is the threat of having a our nation face another attack from Al Qaida? Our soldiers protect us from this very real and ever present threat. 9-11 was not an isolated attempt at attacking American soil by the terrorists regimes - it was however a very successful attempt. Many other attacks have been stopped and halted in their tracks by the ever present protection of our soldiers and the policing of multiple government agencies. Osama Bin Laden is laying in wait for his chance to get a stronghol in the Middle Eastern countries of Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, & Pakistan. He is preparing his troops for the next battle against the enemy - America.

In this day and age of economy unrest and government backstabbing - we forget that we have the right to speak up and voice our opinion. Thank you to our soldiers yet again. But what happens when our freedom is taken away? Do you remember the aftermath of 9-11? Our stockmarkets were closed, plane traffic skidded to a standstill, businesses were closed, there was a panic at the gas stations and supermarkets, life as we know it changed in an instant. Do not forget this moment in your lives. Our soldiers in the Middle East are protecting us and our country from having this travesty happen again. Do not be misled by a handsome smile or charming words - our country is at war. We are in a war to protect our civil liberties.

Consider the following: If the attacks on our soil occured today - who would you want to be our Commander in Chief? I would hope that our Commander in Chief would be someone who can make a decision and stand for what he believes in. Voting present in the Senate is not making a decisive decision. Do not let words of comfort and idle promises sugar coat what it takes to be a leader and Commander in Chief. We need someone that other countries can look up to and respect.

Concerning Palin: She was chosen for HER RECORD as a politician. She went against corrupt government in Alaska and cut the fat. As Governor of Alaska - she made unpopular decisions to make amends and try to correct the corrupt system and make the governmental system work FOR THE PEOPLE. Do not be misled by the fact that she is a woman or that she has children or that she is a hockey mom or that she is "easy on the eyes" or that she appears "folksy" and unpolished when being interviewed or in a debate. Instead look at her as an American - who has worked for the people and taken on the oil companies with their record earnings. She is not a voice to be silenced. She works for the people - even if she has to make some tough and unpopular decisions in the governmental system. She may not have the charm or experience of Biden - but she has gotten the job done in her few short years as Governor of Alaska.

McCain could have taken an easier route and chosen someone more charming and fluent - but he chose instead Palin, a fresh face - with the experience and drive to change a corrupt system. No, she has not had the experience as a Senator - but she has made monumental changes in her role as Governor.

Maybe we should put race and gender aside and make our decisions based upon what each running mate has actually done for our country.

God Bless us all in this upcoming election.
