MP I'm sure you have thought of this but how would a New Hampshire hen work with him? They are the more Orangier color and are a large heavy breed like the Orps.

The RIR and the Meg eggs are to tickle my fancy and to see if the mahogany color will come out.

He is being crossed with buffs because Tim said that would be the best pairing to duplicate his flaming red color. His mother was a buff orp and his dad a blue orp. I want the flaming red color to reproduce.

I am also very curious about miss meggie and her buff orp genes that were crossed with a RIR. Meggie has white legs and looks like an orp with the RIR coloring. Interesting sideline to my red orp project.

I love all this type of thinking. My head swims with it all the time and all the waiting kills me! It's so nice when you get the stock to look at and assess and then it starts the thinking all over again.
