I’ve been worried about it in the back of my mind, but never truly stressed about it ’cause it was all on the other side of the country.

Same! I never thought it would make it to Wa, and if it did, not all the way to my side of the state, to my backyard. I was almost surprised to see it reach my area. Its truly horrifying.

I’ve heard people saying that within the next few weeks and majority of the waterfowl will be finished migrating and it’s supposed to slowly fade out?

That is the hope. Especially with summer coming, I'm really hoping that will help. Sunlight kills it, so if we could just get some sun up here in Wa, we'd be on the right track. At least in my area its been a ton of rain and oddly cold. Definitely not helping.

Exactly. For example, my bantams and all my favorites have been undercover this whole time, but I understand that if the other birds get it, they all get "depopulated".
I didn't know they would euthanize the parakeets too, thats awful!
Not sure what county your located in, but I really hope your able to keep everyone safe.

I won’t share my exact county, but near Seattle ish area. (Not very close, but gives a general idea)

Well, now that I know it is carried in the water fowl, I'm not so worried. We are on a river, and my chickens are several hundred feet from that river. The ducks and geese really stay on the river. They float on it, fly over it, nest on it. I have never seen one over the top of my land. Not ever.

Has anyone heard of any small birds getting the bird flu and spreading it to chickens? That would be my worry. I have bird netting over my free range run, to keep the eagles out, but the fencing is 2 by 3 and small birds will occasionally fly through one of those little openings. We stopped giving them treats on the ground today, to dissuade the little birds, and put a feeder of organic grains (their treats) inside the coop. But, I'm sure we will still have the occasional small bird.

Gosh, that’s tough, I’m so sorry. I really hope your able to avoid all of that, how awful.
Oh thats totally fine. There aren't any cases in King County currently, Seattle is in King County for a general idea, so thats a little helpful for you. Hopefully it stays that way. Crossing my fingers for all your birds.

I got half of my duck tractor finished today. Going to do a temporary last minuet hoop coop setup for the other half, since that isn't going to be done in time. I'll be happy to get all my birds securely under cover though.
