Bird watching

Pics
Also we saw a raccoon raiding bird feeders! Lol

we went to the Audobon.

We went hiking there and saw tons of wildlife lol

Saw a huge Tom turkey (and later hen) right outside the nature center window (and the center has turtles and fish and cool stuff) and then out the other window saw the raccoon and a chipmunk. There were some black birds, maybe a grackle?, dive bombing the coon :lau it just didn't care LOL and we saw tons of turtles sunning themselves on rocks and logs in a pond and tons of HUGE tadpoles in that same pond and a few fish and 1 frog. And a turtle crossing the trail.

We also saw fiddler crabs (at least I think so?) On a marsh, there were soooooo many. And some volunteers released some terrapin turtles but I didn't get close enough to really see it but overheard a photographer who asked to take pictures and talking about it after aha I saw it swim away from semi far away. They caught it and weighed it, measured. Etc. Idk if they tagged it. They are endangered.

Saw some chickadees and maybe a nuthatch? And a cardinal at the feeders too.

And we saw a pair of geese and 3 or 4 little babies!!!

I forget what else we saw haha

But it was fun!

Oh and we saw two adorable bunnies eating in the path on the way back.

And we went to Chatham to the fishing pier and saw 2 seals and then later another one! The boats weren't there cause it was late but the seals still were and went on their backs a lot lol so cute

And some HUGE sea gulls

And we just saw a deer!

Big wildlife day haha

Catbirds have that grey cap and are darker than mockingbirds. Mockingbirds are slightly larger and have longer tails

Catbirds stick to shrubbery and mockingbirds don't care who sees them.

This was in a parking lot but like a quiet/wooded one at the entrance to a state park. Do you think it was the catbird then?

We have a tube feeder in the backyard that we can see from the kitchen window. Our son LOVES watching the birds come to it. One of his first words was BIRD !

Aww that's awesome!

I began bird watching at an early age. Used to drive my grandmother nuts talking about birds when she had to wath us.

Hahah I'm not really sure when i started watching birds

Semi gross with the trash behind them but some MASSIVE sea gulls. They were darker/black not grey and bigger than they look here. Especially in flight. Were massive.

And this cute lil guy. There were sooo many of them. He was brighter and darker than here. They lived like on the side of the pier and flew too fast to get a flight picture lol

I'll post the seals and raccoon in the wildlife thread.

And here is the big tom turkey outside the window and his hen

And a sign of some of the supposed birds there

The picture you posted was a catbird.

You want some bunnies and deer for home? Please come and take some! We have no shortage of turkeys either.

Heck my parents are just north of Boston and they have residential turkeys. Two hens were perched on their deck eating out of the tube feeders last week.

went for a drive today, and saw quite a few birds here are some i know of,
Canada geese with goslings,
canvas back ducks
or they could have been a red head duck (not sure i just know if they have a red head they are awesome to eat)
mallard ducks
some blue wing teal (IMO best duck to hunt and eat)
coots
i think some snipes
other shore birds
sea gulls (or just gulls here as there is no sea)
ravens or crows (not sure the difference)
magpies
those are the ones i can think of.
