What's on your birding list this winter?

I want to see a Slate Colored Junco!

Come look out my window. Slate colored juncos are pretty common here.

I've been wanting to get up the mountains to see the rosy finches!

Slate Juncos are common here, too, as are crows, ravens, blue jays and house sparrows. Sometimes I see starlings and common grackles. There's also a ton of grey squirrels, but they're not...errr... birds, LOL.

Here in Eastern WA we have lots of Oregon juncos, house finches, house sparrows, chickadees, towhees, and my favorite, red-winged blackbirds. We also have a couple species of hawk, and the occasional bald eagle. Cedar waxwings are also quite common. At night, I can hear an owl, but I'm not sure what kind it is.

I live in dry grasslands, technically called an "arid shrub-steppe." The owl sounds kind of funny; he says: whoo-oo, whoo, whoo, whoo, if that makes any sense!
