Bit by the hatching bug ... Marans hatch

I was very surprised to find that last egg. Prior to cleaning the old out, I was holding each egg, tapping on it waiting to feel any movement,and looking close for any sign of a crack. Keeping my fingers crossed today.

Came home today to the last chick hatched....#8. Its a little matted down looking still...but heres one from yesterday.

Oh! How sweet!

Mine in the incubator are looking good. Turns out I've got a broody hen outside, too. Not sure how many eggs she's got, but now I get to be twice as excited & time is moving twice as slow!

Good for you!!! Listen to this...first time ever I have a hen that goes broody. Really? After incubating time and worry? Crazy...

I've got 9 eggs in by bator & a broody hen out in the pen. I may have to sell some chicks too.
