Black Bears

I have been getting black bears checking out my chickens for the last few days. So far my electric fence has been keeping them out of the pen but they keep hanging around and makes collecting eggs an adventure. Any ideas?.

Easiest solution might be to call your county trapper and have him/her come out and set a barrel trap. They will live trap a problem bear and relocate it so it won't come back.

I don't know what state agency handles your animal control (trapper) people but call your county extension office, or Fish & Wildlife and see if they can help ya locate your county trapper.

Bear hunting season has already started over in VT (I use to live on VT) ... Not sure when your season is ... Bear taste yummie!

How often are you seeing these bears? Don't you know someone who hunts bears?
