My cousins had a bantam cochin rooster and 2 easter egger hens. They collected the hens' eggs for a week, and gave them to us so we can hatch them,
We hatched them, and 6 out of 8 eggs hatched. All 6 are doing well, and they all seem to be females.
They look like little black cochins (feathered feet) except they have ear tufts and beards (from the EE's).
Will they lay BLUE eggs?-- The only reason I was hatching them was because I wanted to get some color variety.. but now I realized that might not happen

Would love to see what your Cochin x EE babies look like.
I'm sorry, I completely forgot to take pics. Hopefully these are good enough!

This is the blue/green egg compared to our other eggs.

And here’s the blue egg compared to a white egg! I’m very pleased with such a vibrant blue/green color!

It almost seems olive colored;

I’m so happy with our colorful egg basket now! The blue definitely completes it!

Here’s one of the hens laying an egg. As soon as she was done laying, I saw one tan colored egg under her, so I know it is jets. I put a blue egg from one of the other hens next to the tan one, both from the Easter Egger X Cochins.

The hen pictured above layed the tan egg pictured above.
Seems like the hens that don’t lay blue eggs, lay a very light tan/cream colored egg.

Yes, both lay a green/blue egg. One lays a gorgeous bright, sky blue egg, while the other lays more of a dull green egg.

Thanks! I'm excited :wee
Great! Yes all we can tell is that both of the mothers have at least one copy of the blue egg gene. That means they’ll pass along the blue gene to at least half the offspring. All the eggs will get brown from the father.

If they don’t lay a green egg then they will lay a light brown to tinted brown egg.

Not laying yet. Hopefully soon though! (I'm guessing it will be after winter. Maybe earlier)
oh hopefully soon. I can't wait to see. I am so tempted to try to hatch a couple of Cochin/ EE crosses now! LOL

How old are they? I have 7 pullets right now that were born April 8 and only 3 are laying. 2 of my Cochins haven't started yet and my 2 Lt Brahma's haven't started yet.

WOW! What an amazing egg!!!!!!! now I just may have to try to hatch out a Cochin/EE cross! LOL

What color egg did mom lay? My EE lays extremely light eggs so just a tint of a blueish/greenish coloring to them.
