Hello everyone and thank You for Your guesses and advice! I think that my Black Copper Marans chick is a rooster. Here is a photo of his comb at 3 weeks - I do not think that there is any chance of him being a hen

Yep definitely cockerel.

I'd go with cockerel too, based on the comb and wattle development in comparaison with mine at the same age :

Another obvious indicator would be the color that starts to leak out anywhere other than around the neck on a pullet, yours seems to be getting a bit of copper on the head. Once that sort of coloring comes out on the chicks back/saddle/wings you can be sure you've got a boy.

Hello again! My first Black Copper Marans chick turned out to be a cockerel. I have had another one hatch and the chick is 2 weeks old now. I am posting its photo now and will post later, when I am sure what gender it is for comparison. At the moment its comb looks similar in size to the first chick but not as yellow, its paler.

A bit late for an update but if others are in a similar place where I was with sexing those little marans then maybe You'll find this useful - both of my Marans chicks were roosters. And both found new homes with a hen flock for each
