Black Copper Maran Eggs

I am sorry you had a bad experience with her. So far I haven't - so I will decide after I get the eggs and see what happens.
I have tried to get bayhorsebonne's eggs but always end up outbid - have gone as high as $85 for 6. I have given up for now.

Maybe...

That's so scary because I'm waiting on 3 orders from her right now and one of the orders is for brown leghorns. I did feel that I might be getting swindled or squeezed if you will for more cash because after I asked her a question through her listing for golden lakenvelders, my price on them jumped substantially. Then of course I quit bidding and received a second chance offer.

I will not give feedback until after the item has arrived and just don't understand why people do this. ~~ Staying on topic: I have bought some adult silkie crosses from Carla Freestep and her birds are very well taken care of. I brought home two hens who began laying immediately. Very clean and healthy birds who adjusted to the move without a hitch. She has pics of her marans along with the eggs on her auctions unlike a lot of others I've seen.

Wow I only charge 30$ for a dozen Cuckoos...
Of course the egg color isn't that outstanding but...
Oh and while we are on this subject of who is buying what BCMs from who... You should most of you know that many of the Wheaton and BCMs out there are from Bev Davis in Florida. Which means you can't use any of those other buyers of Bev Davis BCMs or Wheatons for breeding because of the inbreeding problems stated in a post by me in another thread.

Check your sources where did they come from inbreeding is a very real problem in AMERICAN Marans.

Arklady, do you think Bev Davis would sell BCM's to me too. I am in PA. They would have a long trip so they would have to be really fresh.

Oh and regarding Julie3810. I am so sorry...If there were a way to cancel... Well, maybe you could tell her you are onto her. I just checked her feedback and another person left her a neutral. Her biggest excuse to these poor buyers is "oh, he/she leaves a lot of neutrals." but if you go into that person's feedback left, the statement is just not true. I like to get to the bottom of things so I hope other people out there investigate this seller. She is a scam artist and all she is doing is selling hatchery stock. I am SO ANGRY with her. She found a place to buy these CBM eggs at a discount and she orders them and splits them up then sells them 6 at a time. After getting them shipped to her, she then ships them out to the next buyer. Til THAT person gets them how many days old do you think they are? She is so proud of her stock but notice that some just have no pics of the actual parents.

Oh and take a bright light and check your eggs when they arrive. I bet they are half incubated. If you tell her they are not developing after about the 3rd or 4th day she will treat you like you are a big stupid dummy and say give it 2 weeks--A PURE WHITE EGG!!! I can tell after the very first day if a PURE WHITE NON-OPAQUE egg is most-likely going to be fertile or not. Most people can. She will not replace anything. These poor people she has ripped off were trying to be easy on her by only giving her a neutral and she turned around and belittled them AFTER she gave them good feedback for paying promptly and doing their part.

I really get angry at sellers who act like that. I feel for you. That seller is no good.

The high prices were on Copper Blacck Marans - not Cuckoos? or maybe you are referring to another post?

Do you have a link to your post abotu inbreeding the marans? I am just trying to research a little more on the breed.

Thanks drom,
I will post pics if my little ones, hopefully.
I remember someone in a post a while back saying that they used sandpaper to rough up the shell before incubating the coppers, but then someone else in the thread said she hatches them all the time and had never done that. I can't find the thread now, I wonder if thats the one you are thinking of too. So needless to say, I didn't do the sandpaper thing, because I was afraid to since I didn't know enough about it and I am assuming that broody hens don't use sandpaper either and theirs hatch.

That's a funny image - I can imagine mama hen out there with her tool belt on muttering something about tough love...

Maymie girl, I am sure Bev will sell you eggs but she has a waiting list of at least a year. Thats what she told me when I talked to her a couple of months ago, I am on her list.

I ordered from that seller Julie when I first ever ordered eggs on the internet.
I ordered a mix of 2 dozen eggs.
I got Buff Orps, RI Reds, NH Reds, Cuckoos, Barred Rocks,Golden Lakenvelders (who turned out to be the nicest little things) Americaunas, and Brown leg horns.
SHe had different listings going on for a variety of birds, so I e-mailed her and asked if she could do a mix of the breeds I wanted. She was very accomodating and I got 3 eggs of 8 breeds.
I had most of them hatch. I got three of each breed and the only ones that didn't hatch was one americauna and one Lakenvelder that was cracked.

I am sure that your complaints are very valid, since like I said in the original post where I said I wasn't sure that seller was really selling what she said.
I have to say that I love my birds, they have great temperments and are very pretty.
My Orpingtons are lap chickens.
However, I had an uneasy feeling about that listing she had for the black coppers since she said they were imported and all that.
Since I know the background on these marans I know that she can't be selling what she says they are.

but your cuckoos are decent? That is what I have coming from her. Her hens quit laying and she did e-mail me and offer a refund, but I told her I would wait so she is giving me some extra eggs of whatever breed I liked. Like I said - I am sorry for your bad experience but I will just wait and see how my order pans out.
