Intersting that this thread popped up! I am thinking about getting some bcm. What is their temperament like? Are they good with a mixed flock?
Mine are great. Some of the most docile, friendly birds I’ve ever owned. I do handle mine pretty much daily though, so I’m sure that has a lot to do with mine being docile. My main breeder cock bird usually follows me around looking for a treat to share with his girls. I can reach down and pick him up with no fuss from him. I don’t have any of mine mixed with other breeds so as to keep them pure blood but I couldn’t imagine that they would’ve be good with other breeds.Intersting that this thread popped up! I had Cream Legbars, Bielefelders, Ameraucanas, Araucanas and Marans. All got along great. As time went on though I realized I like the Marans the best and rehomed all the other breeds.Intersting that this thread popped up! I am thinking about getting some bcm. Hi,
The poultry expert Greg Brereton states that green eyes are a recessive trait. That they show up in soft feather breeds. Sometimes they are a nice orange in year one and then fade in year two. He says in this case it is best to breed from 18 month old birds.
Best,
Karen
