How about a picture looking straight at the camera.

Roo In question:

Wow, things sure look different in light conditions and with the camera. This is the really white feather, the only one. The other questionables just look lighter, not black like his body. It was also rainy again and a little mucky so even with wiping the feathers (on a roo that was sure we were killing him!) they look dirty and not their true colour. Right front leg/foot.

Left front leg/foot, nothing white, just greyish looking compared to body feathers.........

I have found nothing in the SOP saying that a white toe feather is a fault or DQ. So will go out on a limb and say really nothing to worry about. I would be more worried about the white in the tail feathers if that is actually there or just the camera.

Zanna - I don't see a thing wrong (personally) with his leg/toe feathering. He does have an odd back end - at least to my eye. Odd tail carriage, and seems...gosh, searching for a word...unbalanced, front to back(?) I know he's not being "posed" though, so it's probably just the angle he's standing at or something. He loooks nice & BEEFY, too! Gotta love a honkin' big roo!

FireT - WOWZA - am I seeing that right? spaghetti & meatballs? LUCKY birds!

Yeah I give a couple dozen eggs a -month- for 'table scraps' from a family Italian Restaurant. (when I get 8-13 eggs a day that's about 2 days work for the hens)

They are open every day but Monday so at most I have to put the full ration of chicken feed 10+ cups (instead of like two cups) out, otherwise they have a choice of scraps and feed.

He's "paying" for my chooks... my feed bill is so low with that help.

Find a family place and make a deal with them! It only takes an extra second to dump the food scraps in a frosting bin and set it out for me-

they like not having food garbage anymore their dumpster doesn't attract critters either.

The place holds like 20-30 eaters max so it is small. My best days are tur-sunday, of cures I get no food on Monday- and everything must be removed in this heat at dark.

One of my kid's friends dad gives me leftover veggies and fruit and bread from one of his businesses in exchange for eggs. It is stuff that just expired but is still good but he can't serve it to people due to the expiration date. Most of the bread is good whole wheat. He also gives me horse manure. What a deal !!! When this guy pulls up the chickens get all excited because they know they are getting treats lol !
