So I have a breeding trio of BCMs but I also wanted a mixed flock so I've acquired some blue ameraucanas (pure) and a few chocolate orpingtons.
We mostly have them for hatching eggs and because I wanted some darker colour eggs, but it got me curious in case we ever did hatch some of our own. The BCM roo + blue ameraucana would obviously produce an olive egger, but would that olive egger likely be splash, or could it just be any mix of colour attributes of the parents?
I know normally it would be all over the place but I was wondering if the black + blue = splash rule would run true across breeds. I love splash birds and wouldn't mind a couple olive eggers at some point so I'm mostly just curious in case any of my hens ever goes broody and we decide to go for it.
