Black Copper Marans - Time progression of sexing - UPDATED with WEEKs #1-3 PICTURES

Pics
Well they're going to be some seriously good-looking roos, the way they're shaping up. I was planning for a flock of 6-8 hens and a roo to start out, so two roos will make me rethink things, if neither turns out to be a evil little b**t**d. Guess we'll just see how well they behave themselves.

Thing is, I wanted to hatch some more eggs, but now I don't trust that I will ever hatch a pullet!

What a fabulous picture of a PULLET?

the comb is big but looks like floppy. bcm girls only have floppy combs. good luck, time will tell.

What cuties! Girl in the back? Looks like she already has a sweet little tail.

they look the same at the moment but I have just been told a trick to find out if it is boy or girl. within the 24 hours upon the hatch we pick up a chick. boys will stretch their legs and keep them together while girls will lift up their legs and keep them wide apart like they are trying to run. it has to do with the fact that girl will lay and their bones are different at hatch so they cannot keep their legs together.

I will tell you later if that works. I cannot say now which one is supposed to be a girl, they look the same.

Interesting! So curious to hear if that wokrs.

I have spent a disproportionate time reading this thread and looking at all the photos over and over! Thought it might be time to say hi and post some photos of my own to see if anyone had any ideas about the gender of my three Marans chicks!

They are 3.5 weeks old now, and I am none the wiser...

Any thoughts?!
