Black Friday Shopping 2012

I have thumbed through the adds and most of the things in them are luxuries that I don't really need. I have all of it already.

What I do need, they never put on sale for black friday. Chicken feed, plant soil, plywood.

I did go to the store today. I had no choice. There would have been an uprising and perhaps even a strike if I did not.

Traffic was insane and parking lots were jammed. I only had to go 10 blocks from my house. Staying in until Monday.

I've never been in that type of situation while black Friday shopping.
Our stores are pretty organized..they only let 4 people in at a time so no people getting trampled..
They also have police there ..

I was in the store where the fight over cell phones went on. Straight talk phones! Not Iphones or anything super cool. Those people were crowded around them at 7 and they didn't go on sell until 10. I was after a laptop and they gave out tickets for those. They had 40 to sell and 40 people got a ticket. Very organized. They also had a similar situation like the cell phones over sheets on my side of the store. I was about 15 feet from that one getting a small appliance. My 12 year old thought the whole thing was hilarious until he was nearly in the middle of the cell phone mayham. They took at least woman out on a stretcher. They was two ambulance still out front when we left a little after 10 so don't know what the final total was. Some people are just stupid.

My brother and I went to Best Buy for a 27 in. monitor. We got in line at 11:55. The line wrapped 1/2 way around two stores. We were in and outta there in 30 minutes! Very lucky!! lol

I admit I went to Kmart, not once but twice! (No Walmarts or Targets here)

It was the only place that had a good deal on Christmas lights for moms (50% off), but one strand was defective (thus the return trip) It was closer to 10 before I made it up there yesterday morning. No line at the cash register! Same thing for Costco, no line. I got my two platform ladders from Home Depot and a light 4 footer for me at home. Some tool totes for $2 and a bunch of .99 poinsettias for mom (she was thrilled) Oh, and a gift for the guy that was half price at OSH's Milwaukee tool sale and something he had mentioned wanting to buy in the future for the business idea he is working on.

And with that, my black friday shopping was done. I think I left home at 9 and was at Moms hanging lights by 11. I would love a big monitor, a new tv etc, but think my personal sanity is worth more than those lines and I would rather be happy with what I have. The things I bought all have a working for me use other than entertainment (except the poinsettias but if $6 worth makes and old lady happy I got my value already)

I'm glad that I did (brown thursday) at walmart. I picked up things I needed. I got 4 of the beauty rest down alternate gel pillows and a king size beauty rest down alternate comforter. I save d $100.00 by getting them on sale. I only spent $35.00 on the 4 pillows and king size comforter. A lot of people don't like black friday but when u can save $100.00 + and you only have to stand in line a couple hours, it's worth every second I waited.

I also got a hand mixer for $3.99 for baking and a 28 piece food storage set for $6.92. I use those to store leftover soups, stews, etc.

The $100.00+ that i saved will go towards chicken feed.

I wouldn't shop on Black Friday even if the merchandise was free.  That said, we have a neighbor that thinks of Black Friday shopping as a sport and wouldn't miss it for anything.  Last year I gave her some money and she bought a bunch of towels for me.  I think they were a buck apiece at WalMart.  They aren't the fanciest towels in the world but they certainly are serviceable, and it is nice to have plenty of towels for once.

Cassie, any word from your neighbor and what happened on their black friday?
