Black Friday Shopping At Wal Mart

There is NO way I would shop at ANY store anywhere in known universe the day after Thanksgiving. Forget it, even if I had the stamina or the organizational skills, I do not possess the money to go shopping for Christmas all in one fell swoop...

I do a little bit all year long. Remember when banks had Christmas Club savings accounts? Gosh, I'm old...

I just don't do this anymore... it used to be good deals!

Now, they've shown these stored by 'low grade items' for the these HUGE deals. The quality is that of the price they are selling it to you for. On top of that, most of these 'deals' are still over $100? I never spend $100 on one person... and if I spend that on myself its NOT this time of year, mainly because I am thinking of others.

Also, I really try to buy handmade in the USA or I try to buy from local shop owner. I really believe in the Shop Small Business Saturday going on. I really like all my little local shops, and they are all having GREAT little deals this weekend. I'll probably go shop a bit on Saturday, but it will mainly be trinkets and stocking stuffers. I doubt I'll go over $40... but still, I like it going to my community and not Walmart.

PLUS... I get to sleep in.

Besides, my brother came for dinner at 3 pm today... he just got off of work at Lowe's food... He ate, went home and went right to be. Currently, he's at his other part-time job at Best Buy getting ready for their craziness. This is NOT fair to the employees. These people DESERVE a holiday off with family. I missed that he couldn't stay, his neice rarely gets to see him.

What's next... shopping like crazy ON Christmas day?! Its getting out of hand!

We only do it for something like the thing Costco has. Then it is back home again. In and out. Only my second time ever shopping on black friday.

NO. I believe the employees should have time off at least until 8 am Friday and I do not like crowds. Plus, I've already been doing some shopping at yard sales etc.

And much as I like poultry (and am squeamish about slaughtering them) ....let's keep the TURKEY and FRIENDS/FAMILY in Thanksgiving rather than trying to make Thanksgiving about the "economy" and store chains' profits. Thanksgiving is a day for a big family dinner and an annual recap and counting of blessings...

I am working right now and went past 2 Walmarts tonight. They are already open. I don't know when they opened today. Now the Toys R Us has about 1000 people in line! If I didn't have to work, I would be home enjoying some dessert with my family. I guess you really lime to shop to be standing outside for hours waiting for the stores to open.

I'm back. Done shopping. All I wanted was a couple cameras. I got them at midnight and was in the parking lot at 0107.

Kodak EasyShare (RED) $49. Carrying case $5.
FujiFilm Finepix S3280 $159. Carrying case $9.
SanDisk 4GB $5
SanDisk 8GB $9
4GB Flash Drive $5.
8GB Flash Drive $9.

I bought some rechargeable AA batteries (not on sale) and a charger too.

Oh, almost forgot..... I also picked up one of those Black and Decker 20 Volt Lithium-Ion Drill with bonus 100 accessories and carrying case for $60.


I don't know if all Walmart stores did this, but I liked it. No big TVs (and other big things) were in the store. There were only coupons. You go pay for it and then drive around back (in automotive, where they change oil) and they loaded them up for the customers. That was nice to not have all those TVs and other big boxes in the way of everyone.

I did come out of my Thanksgiving hibernation and went out to WalMart last night. And you are right - that is exactly what our WalMart did. They were giving out slips of paper (couldn't see exactly what it was) but I saw the workers writing down what the shoppers wanted and explaining to the shoppers to take the slips to the cashier, pay for the item and drive to the back to get it. The large electronics were (flat screen TV, etc. were not on the floor.
