Black Friday Shopping...Who's Going and what are you shopping for?

Just call me Scrooge McDuck. But I don't see any reason to go out and get "malled". I don't mind getting my family members a couple things they need, and giving the kids a little something extra, but I am not going to fight crowds, to wait in line, to give away my hard earned money. Christmas has become a day of debt to spoil kids with junk that usually breaks in a few days, gets lost under the bed or in the closet, stolen, or is used to one up there friends by saying "my parents love me more then yours do, see I got a new such and such and you only got blah blah". I told my kids that I was gonna give them walking sticks and if they don't like it, they can take a hike!

I've gone a couple of times for specific items. But unless I'm visiting family,I don't go, I live in the boonies and too far from the stores. It takes me an hr just to get to walmart! But I need to start shopping, I haven't boughten a single thing for christmas yet! I have 4 kiddo's, and I have some ideas in mind. We are thinking about getting them a Wii this year!

A woman after my own heart! DD and I went to a Black Friday event once and swore we'd NEVER do it again. In fact, I get so tired of the Christmas hype that I try to do all my Christmas shopping in odd places, like hardware stores, antique shops, etc. I've always found great gifts for people and felt that I was supporting local economy rather than behemoth shopping conglomerates. So I'll be here sipping coffee on Friday morning; y'all have fun scratching and clawing!

I haven't been in many years but our 8yo 20 in tv is dying. So time to replace it. I saw that target ad, but with one target and over 100,000 people in this city, no way. We have 6 walmarts within a 30 min drive. Otherwise I would stay home and do crafts with the kids. With luck I will be home by 7am to do crafts.

I can't wait to look at the flyers either.

I'm hoping to go out, unless it snows.

My buddy and I didn't go last year for the first time in YEARS as we were both under the weather and we were miserable because we didn't go. We mourned not going for days. I don't care if we just go to watch the other crazies

We don't have any plans and we do it just to enjoy ourselves and have a crazy time. Neither of us are really shoppers but we love this day!

I worked at Target for 7 years - I would rather be behind the cash register working than shopping. At least I was getting paid to be there rather than spending money.

On that note - they have Carhartt coats on sale for a good price at Bass Pro Shop on Friday morning so we will probably go get those for ouselves.

My kids are mostly grown (20,18,16) and I don't believe in getting them all kinds of crap. I try to get unique or useful items. When my daughter was 17 we started getting her stuff for when she would live on her own. She kind of rolled her eyes at the time, but now is really thankful

BTW - I watched ELf and The Santa Clause last night - was good to watch some cute Christmas movies. Elf just cracks me up it is so incredibly stupid, yet funny.
