I hatched off 20 eggs of Black Giants and 4 of them was white. They are growing so fast and the 4 that seemed to have a little black or grey on their back which I thought would be black They are now solid white . How did this happen. I only have black ones. Two more hatched thats not in the picture later that day. The white are so pretty just wasnt expecting this. No hens were around any other roo but my big black giant.

Hmmmmmmmmm Somebody's been messing around.

nope thats impossible but I have been thinking and it must be I didnt get full stock Black giants but it waited a while to come out.

no not real sure but I looked up black giants and the baby picture I saw on one website looked just like mine. Here is a picture of them now. They are almost 8 weeks. Its funny all the white come forward for a photo shoot. And dont know what happen with picture sent in the middle of my post. Ha!

I know there is such a thing as a White Jersey Giant. I don't know enough about the breed to know whether or not there might be a recessive white gene, but it is possible that you have the offspring of a Black Jersey Giant rooster who carries the recessive gene that was mated to a Black Jersey Giant hen who also carried the recessive gene and ended up with white. Again, don't know enough about the breed. You might contact a breeder.

Thanks , I didnt realize this could happen. Their all healthy and doing great so I am not disappointed but was more curious than anything . They will lay eggs like the others and this is what I wanted. If someone buys one from me they may feel different but I will have to explain what you said to them so they will know to expect that too.

Thanks for this, I went to the website and the one picture of a baby chick looks just like a splash to me. Its funny how we all see things different . But I didnt even know there was such a kind. I didnt know when I got my first black giant that there was a white either so I am learning a lot about my chickens, All chickens in general actually. My posts have seem to be out of sequence and when I said its impossible I meant for them to have been bred to another rooster here and we got the white. I didnt mean they could not be blues or splash.
My giants are in a chicken house with 12 foot run and they dont get out unless in a chicken tractor. Too many hawks flying over. So your explanation about genes is very likely whats happen. Interesting ! Again thanks.
