Hi everyone hope you can help me , the other day I noticed 1 of my rir chooks has got 3 black lumps on the red wattle . They almost look like ticks . She still seems healthy, still laying nice big eggs and eating will, hope some one can help !

Those red things are her wattles. Catch her and check the 'black lumps' out - they may very well be ticks, and you will want to remove them.

Grasp them firmly and remove with a steady pull. Most tick species are readily removed - some like deer ticks or Lonestar ticks can be somewhat more difficult to remove.

Welcome to BYC!

X2 if they are ticks. Towel up the bird and lay them in your lap on their back. You can then work with the bird a lot easier. Tweezers might help to grasp the ticks.

Good luck and keep us posted!

I had a closer look at the black lumps yesterday and don't think they are ticks , they are more like black wort's .. hope you can help !

Can you include a picture here so we can have a look see?? Would make it easier to diagnose then guessing. :)
