Black silkies

I should also say I've only had silkies for two years. The best resources are other breeders, showing, and breed clubs. Join a breed club, go to shows, observe and talk to people.

On the black cock you want a critique on Muddy, that's not a good picture or a good angle for a critique.

I'll try to get some better pics tomorrow

Muddyhorse, so sorry to hear about your roo. It's amazing how attached we get to these beautiful creatures and what a shock it is to lose one suddenly. Be comforted that you gave him a good life while he was with you.

I have a bunch of blacks from Amy Piehl and one of my pullets won best of breed!

Here are a few of mine. The ONLY problem I have is there wings are a bit overshredded on some. Apparently its pretty good because the pullet that I thought didnt have the best wings beat some pretty good birds with what I thought were better wings. The roo I have from her is just gorgeous. No leakage and has great type and color.

I have a BUNCH more pictures of them now and when they were a bit younger too if you want!

I hate that! My Amer roo didn't just drop dead but rooster shopping is hard! You can never find one as good as you had it seems like sometimes!

thought I would share one of my black silkies - I wondered if I would like the black feathering but once the hatched - I LOVE them!!!!
