Black silkies

[Three Cedars Silkies]

I have really enjoyed raising blacks too. We used to have them mixed in a blue/black/splash pen but separated them back in the fall. I do offer hatching eggs occasionally. Right now I have about 30 eggs from the black pen in the incubator. Actually 11 went into the hatcher today and the others are due next week.

Right now I have an auction up for eggs from the black pen and the blue/splash pen.

it was very hard for me to find a solid black hen that was good quality I found these girls but could not find a black roo without silver or gold lacing along his neck. So far I have gotten all black chicks that grow up all black only the roo's get the gold or silver on them.

Thanks for the goodluck wishes! All seem to be doing well so far! I forgot that I have a splash pullet in that pen so I just might get a blue/splash chick. Also two porcelains but they should be split to black if any of their eggs hatch. Love the partridge chicks of yours! Can't wait till my partridge youngsters are old enough to breed!

I am new to Silkies my daughter wonted to do poultry in 4H so I got her a few.We are from Nova Scotia and it is hard to get good Silkies.How long does it take to lock in your color . These silkies have different colors in there back ground and ever non beared.If we keep picking the best bearded blacks how long will it be before the other colors to stop showing up?
