blood ring or blind

It didn't look like that before I cut the grass!! The lawn mower picks quite a bit up plus I have a good shovel. I only let them out for a bit when I can watch them. The crests make them get easily lost!!

my grandson has been wanting to let the chickens out while he is out there to watch them but i see no way of getting them back in til they are ready to come in.

My granny would always serve dinner early, then we cleaned up the dishes quick. Then we all went outside to sit in the front yard. She would always let me turn the hens out. They would go back in when it was time to roost.

Granny always had two flocks of Dominiques. Young flock and an older flock. She sold eggs to the neighbors. As the older hens stopped laying in their second winter, they became Sunday dinner. By spring the hen house was ready for the new baby pullets.

I train mine with scratch, all I have to do is get the can and they're tripping me to the run. I toss a couple handfulls in and then shut the door. Doesn't matter how far they've wandered I just start hollering here chick...chick they come a runnin' lol

Mine dont get out enough. they want that grass above anything else. and funny thing. I havent had the first chick learn to come when i call it.

You got to work with them a bit, it takes some time, but once they relate your call to getting scratch it will be easy after that. I've got the 5 five week olds to start working with once it warms up some where they are spending time outside.

I only ended up with the one polish mix baby. that incubator is gone.
