Bloody Egg

We got this egg yesterday that seems to be covered in blood...we did a visual check of all our ladies because we don’t know who this egg is from, and didn’t see anything. None of them are acting differently, and we’ve been getting eggs from everyone so I’m not sure if we should be concerned...our flock free ranges all day every day, but gets locked in the coop at night. We haven’t noticed any signs of violence/aggression between any of them, and they are just over a year old. This is the first egg oddity we’ve encountered.

An especially large egg will have some blood on it, nothing to worry about unless it happens consistently.

Okay, this was a normal size egg. Any concern there?

I wouldn't worry about it unless you get additional eggs with blood smears. Sometimes they struggle a little with laying.
