Blooie's Blankie Fort

I think you'll like the FI I love mine. It's been great. This is my fourth hatch and it's actually my first hatch with a calibrated thermometer and hygrometer. My last hatch was a bust but they were horrible eggs, horribly shipped, and most I opened weren't even fertile.

I am officially ready to put these eggs under a heating pad with a wet paper towel and leave them alone. I don't know what I'm doing, I don't want to let Alex @MyPetChicken down, and I don't want to end up killing these little creatures before I even see them. I don't want to let @LocalYokel down. I'm just confused and frustrated I guess and in over my head here.

I'm going to go eat some crayons and wash them down with a 2 liter bottle of coke now.

Blooie.....I'm no expert, but I did stay at a holiday inn express once....

i don't think incubating has to be super difficult, or technical.

think the hardest part, is getting a trustworthy reading from your instruments. once you got them calibrated, and get the incubator dialed in (running at an even, correct temp, and humidity), it pretty much runs itself.

couple of things I learned from my first hatch. Take note of where your AC vents are blowing on the incubator. we go thru some pretty big temp/humidity swings this time of year. cold fronts, that get us down to the 40's....then two days later, it can start out in the 40's and warm up to the 70's. Literally heater at night, and then turn on the AC during the day. Jacks with our humidity too. But if you are aware, it's pretty easy to predict and correct.

those eggs are pretty tough, and resilient, and take temp spikes, or temp lows, same with humidity. the key, is to minimize the occurrence, and frequency.

that was another thing I wanted to touch on.......this site has tons of folks that are very good at incubating, and tons of information.

For sure
If you have good thermometers to go off of
Its a cinch
I trust a calibrated thermometer over what any bator says, any day

You can do it! As long as your incubator is holding temps, just pick a number for humidity, say 40ish and check the air cells in 7 days. Make sure the turner is turning and you're good to go.
