I usually blow out the first egg one of my girls lay. I have lots of them laying around. I also blow out duck eggs when I find them for crafts. Last year for the Christmas Photo Contest on the other BYC, I made reindeer, a sleigh and a tree out of eggs. A little bantam Cochin chick was santa,lol. I have pics somewhere, I'll find them if anyone wants to see. Its fun. Unfortunately, I tried quail eggs once and a few were rotten. Ever tried blowing on a rotten egg?? :|

I'd like to see a reindeer made out of an egg, OEGB...

After looking at 5AZSisters site I know my efforts at egg decorating will be waaaaay amateur!!

My efforts will be much simpler. Plus, since the eggs are such a pretty green I don't plan on coloring or painting them with anything other than clear. And that was just to make them stronger.

I don't blame you for leaving the color of the egg natural and a simple thing to do is cover them with several coats of acrylic and then decorate them with some pretty braids or ribbon. Put a cord through them or attach a ornament hanger and it makes for pretty tree decorations. you can also use decals to decorate and then use the acrylic.

OK, I started decorating eggs as a kid, and one thing I've never figured out---hou do you thread the cord/string/ribbon through the egg? I have no problem getting it in the first hole, But have -never- managed to get it out the other end. Any advice?

I use a LONG neddle.

I think it is a Quilting needle. Has a pretty big eye on it and I am able to run ribbion thru it as well.

My Grandma gave it tome when I was kid and started painting my goose eggs.

I'm going to insert pearl-tipped pens at each end, gluing them in place. The top pin will be poked through the ribbon before it's inserted into the egg. I'm not patient enough to thread an egg

I have three photobucket accounts since I filled 2 up already (1000 pics each

), so its hard to find the pics,lol. But I downloaded one and here it is...The sleigh is made out of a duck egg, the tree was made out of an EE egg, and I believe the reindeer were Barred Rock eggs.

The chick had just hatched, so its legs were a little weird,lol.
