Blue Ameraucana thread!

Pics

these are the size of the eggs I was talking about....she lays one about as often as usual, only the size is too small, and no yolk....they never get any bigger...the normal size blue/green egg is her sisters....the rest are from the rest of the flock
wow those do look tiny compared to the other! and there's no yolk in them? Have you posted anything over in the emergencies thread? surely someone will know what causes an under developed egg

The only one that I would be sure of is #1, I've been fooled too many times to guess on the others.
BTW I'm looking for a Dark Blue roo, the one I have is too light for my taste. Are you willing to ship a couple up to TN?

ok got some pics for y'all to look at and help me with. If the 3 wide comb is a true indication, I have a few boys around, LOL

ok so there we are, some of you more knowledgeable ones, see if you agree with me. I think 1, 2, and 5 are roosters. The last two, don't have quite enough bumps yet to tell, but it looks like both of them are pullets. What say ye? and thanks!
I agree that #1 looks like a roo, on the others I've been fooled too many times to hazzard a guess. I start when they are one day old using the wing feather sexing trick, then when they start to get tails, the ones with the longer tails are pullets, then the combs come next, and I'm still wrong alot.
BTW, I'm looking for a dark blue roo. I have one that is too light for my taste. Anyone who has some dark roos and want to ship to me, I'm in TN and willing to pay the shipping on a chick even.

Those are beautiful blues above!

I would like to hatch more. I only have one blue, a hen. She didn't start laying until the day after I filled the incubator with everything else. So I popped her single egg in anyway. It developed, but died at lockdown. When I opened it up, the chick was blue. Disappointing. I'll have to try again with more of her eggs, but she's stopped laying again.

where in TN? not so sure about shipping, but depending on where you are, maybe a meet up somewhere? we could pull our camper somewhere and make a weekend out of it. After I'm sure I have more than 2 that is, I want one to keep and I've promised one to the grand daughter

so the ones that have longer tail feathers by now should be pullets? interesting, I'll have to go sit and pay closer attention tomorrow, LOL

I'm totally subscribing to this thread! I've ordered 10 blue, 5 black and 5 lavender from Max Strawn and I'm so excited for them to get here, I'm really interested in breeding blues and blacks, the lavenders are just cause they're pretty ^.^ I'm hoping to have majority hens ( fingers crossed) and a few rues, my luck I'll end up with all rues... Lol
