I apologize if this has been asked and answered, but I wasn't sure how to look this one up. Here goes:

If you get black birds from blue x black crossings, do they carry blue genes, or all black? I want black to breed to lavender. Would a black from a blue x black breeding work?

Thanks!

Blue is actually heterozygous(one copy of the gene) dominant Splash(Bl/Bl) a splash bird has two copies of the blue gene(Bl/Bl) and Blue has only one copy(Bl/bl+) black lacks any of the splash gene so they are infact bl+/bl+, so if you get any blacks from your black x blue cross you can use them on your lavender project because they are free of the blue gene
