I am soo excited to try some for myself, just need to get the time to go get the supplies, and pray that my LF girls start to lay again soon.

Thank you! That's what makes it so frustrating to break an egg shell while trying to make these- the girls just aren't laying right now! I have 10 hens and am getting 2 eggs a day lately. <sigh>

Tell me about it, my girls went thru their molt a while back and I now haven't had an egg in over two months.

My upcoming group just turned eight months and are holding theirs hostage. I still look everyday with high hopes only to get shot down. I don't think I know what a large size egg looks like anymore.

Your egg looks sooo pretty! Never thought about saving the bulb caps when they break. Just been throwing them away. Thanks for the idea! That blas-fix blower is the same kind I use but just so you know, after a few dozen, they wear out and you will need to get a new one. In my last order I went ahead and got 2.

Thanks so much! And thanks for the info about the blas-fix blower. Does it work well? (I guess it must or you wouldn't order several more. Duh.).
I'm not sure if the regular sized ornament bulb caps would work, I used the minis and they worked perfectly. Just enough pressure to keep them in there without glue and without cracking the egg further.

I hope not to make more than a "few dozen" of these!! LOL

Ok, sanitation step...

How do you keep them from smelling like they are rotten? I have washed these things 3x and microwaved them, but they still smell. I can smell them when I leave the house and then come back in.

I don't want to make these and have them all pretty, give them as gifts, and then they be stankin'.

Ha ha! Did you microwave them more than once? I believe Miss Prissy said something about microwaving them for 15 sec on high heat 4 to 6 times. I rotate my eggs inbetween microwaving...I also only zap them 4 times....so far no "stank", so I know it works for me.

Thanks! I'm always looking to build a better mouse trap (plus, I coudn't figure out how MP got the string to work in the bead cap!).

Microwaving the egg four times for 15 seconds each has worked for me. No stinky eggs.
