Hi Everyone... first, I must say that of course the tree isn't done... we've just gotten started really.
The tree is a white fake tree... I don't like it very much and wanted a fresh cut one this year, but the budget and all doesn't call for it. So I took our old fake white tree, usually used outside, and set it up. It's FULL of gaps & holes and so I wound some lit garland I made a few years ago through the branches into the empty spaces. And by "made" I mean I bought cheap single strand garland, and twisted 3 of them together, and then added lights. I used these as table centerpieces for my wedding/vow renewal a few years ago.
So... after that I used white corded clear lights to light the white parts of the tree and green stranded clear lights for any green parts that needed more lighting. I had originally hoped it might look like a green tree with snow, but it doesn't really, it just looks like an interesting tree!
I finished the 4 Yard bow last night (well 8 yards as it's two ribbons), the only new thing I try to buy each year is new ribbon, and put it up right before I hit the sack.
I used to work at this prestigious Christmas Place/Village where I learned to tie tree toppers & floral bows.. I usually use 2 - 5 yard bows ontop but again, budget restrictions. I'm excited to post a photo of it once it's complete, hopefully tonight. Do we have a Christmas tree tour on BYC? That would be so cool, a thread with lots of pictures of everyone's trees and decorations?!!? Like a neighborhood driving tour, but online!
Ok.. here it is... still mostly bare but a work in progress
Thank you all for such nice comments, and interest.
I'll post close-ups of the baby chicks ornaments later on too... it'll be my first time using googly eyes
