Blue Copper and Splash Copper Marans Discussion

Pics
Loving their feathered shanks and outer toes. Noticed today while I had them out playing that they are starting to turn into real feathers. :)

Also, it was so bright outside today that this photo makes them look lighter blue than they are. They are a nice medium to dark blue.

Hey Kim, do you have a way of marking a few of those to watch? I'd be curious to see what the ones on the far left and far right, as well as the 3rd one from the right do.

could be all pullets, the only one I question just based on what I can see in the picture would be the one on the far right, but otherwise, it wouldn't surprise me if you end up with all pullets.

Every time I look at them I can't find a reason to think roo....but the one you speak of is one that I suspect might be. How the heck did you guess that?

I can match them up to the photo and band them, no problem. Whatcha seeing that you want to watch? :)

Just the overall look. After being around birds for so long, its hard sometimes to distinguish between one or two particular factors. Plus, my gut isn't sold that its a pullet

Okay you're typing faster than me tonight, LOL!
I will definitely keep you posted. They are super easy to photo and handle....they are way friendlier than most others I have hatched.

Here, those that have the better penguin markings over the eye tend to color in better with copper. Just would be curious to see what they would do, especially since you have had trouble getting color on the ladies.

I think it would be a great group to monitor if they are almost all pullets and are out of the same male I'm assuming? Same mother as well?

They are all from the same parents. Will, the Black Copper male and Darryl, my Splash Copper hen. They will not be going anywhere as they are the reason I was doing single test matings, so that I had more to grow out and watch from testing the BCM. :)

Got a quick photo of that other Blue Copper gal I am borrowing back from my BFF. Give me just a second and I will get it loaded.
