Blue Copper and Splash Copper Marans Discussion

Would anyone care to help me pin down this guy's color? He is from our Blue Splash Marans hen and our Splash roo. He seems to have some cuckoo going on, but I'm stumped. Thank you. Here is his mom, Silver Belle. Dad? Unless Silver Belle ran astray... .

Here is a close-up of her neck. She's still finishing her molt, so she has some stubby feathers around her neck.

Thanks all for your input. This combo has only ever produced splashes and blue splashes previously, so this one threw me. I have to say, though, that I think he's rather handsome. ; )

Here are the dark blue girls with no leg feathers and no copper,
but i really love their blue color...

In that pic those pullets are still very young,give them some time they may haver some copper come in.

These are my 2 boys. They are just about 3 months old now. They are currently in the bachelor pad so tail feathers are a mess on all the boys.

This one is whiter, smaller but has better feathering on his legs.


This is the bigger boy. He is bluer in the hackle area, bigger but his shank and toe feathering is scant compared to the other boy.


Hoping they make it through winter and looking forward to hatching some more splash next year.

I have one that showed a tiny tiny amount of copper, the other nothing. I did have a cockerel with same coloration and he showed coppering but I sold all the boys about 2 weeks ago. Of all the blues i hatched I do have one that is showing copper now, but she is definitely from a different parent than the ones in the picture. I don't think i will breed these two forward even though the shade of blue is awesome, but i can admire them in the layer coop

In fact i also just removed the mom of these chicks from the breeding pen and sold her as a brown egg layer, she laid nice eggs but was producing extremely dark chicks with no leg feathering, either black or blue they were too dark.

I can't wait to see how the one that does show the coppering turns out, she is lighter blue but still has the darker lacing, nice and big and has lots of leg feathers
