I know this is a dumb question, but has anybody had a blue chick with barring from a splash/black mating? I have blue chicks hatched by a BO broody, and the lightest one at hatch appears to have barring on the wings. My broody is very protective, so catching it to extend the wings or get photos isn't really an option without risk of bodily harm. My eyes may be deceiving me, but I just thought I would ask.

Well, at the risk of life and limb I got Mama and baby separated and snapped some photos of the wing of this chick. Sorry for the quality, but this is the best that I could do with a phone and one hand:







The last photo was simply to show the feathering on the legs. It is obvious that he is going to be blue. Does anybody have any thoughts about this little fella? He is 3 1/2 - 4 weeks old.

Two maran chicks hatched today on day 19! One between midnight and 5 am so almost day 18. I think one is a blue and one is a black. Three more eggs are pipped. Oh the sweet sounds of going to bed with chirping chicks in the house!
