For me it is structure, comb size, lack of saddle feathers, etc. Its something that can take some time to learn, I just lucked out growing up in a poultry breeding family and showing since I was very young.

Saddlefeathers are the feathers that come in at the back, by the tail, if you look at pictures of a black copper cock, they are the copper feathers back by the tail that are pointed and narrow if that makes sense.

I would suggest that you buy or borrow a APA SOP it would be the best money ever spent relating to Show Poultry. Don
