I have two blue egg layers: An Easter Egger and a CCL. Recently I've noticed that one of eggs from them (I'm not sure which one) is not as blue as it was when they first started laying. They free range most of the day, I have not changed feed, they have access to oyster shell and regular grit. We are located in N. Wisconsin where the grass isn't green yet but they have been digging in the leaf and mulch piles for bugs.

Has anyone had this happen, or know why it's happening?

I know colored eggs can vary in shade. Shouldn’t be anything to be to concerned over.
The chicken is acting fine and the eggs only problem is a new shell shade?
Yep - they are both doing great! They are less than one year old (got as chicks last year/April 2020) - so have been laying for only about 6 mos.

Through their Egglaying cycle, pigment will start to lessen and gradually their eggs will become lighter. Heavy blooms may also make your eggs appear whiter in color.
Seems odd as they just started laying this fall. Not a biggie as both ladies are sweet and faithful layers.

Well they’ve been laying for several months now then, their pigment is just not as heavy as it once was.

I found that happens with many blue egg layers over the 30 years I've had em. Its normal nothing to be concerned about as long as they're healthy and happy lol.
