Blue Plymouth Rock

My chick looked like yours in light grey. I believe the lady at TSC said he was a Plymouth Blue Rock

Newbie question! I have 13 week old Australorps that free range and am looking at getting more tomorrow and she has blue rocks.. :celebratethey are only 3 weeks compared to the 5 week old australorps I plan on getting. anyone know how the australorps will do with them being smaller? I have to quarantine for 30 days obviously but I don’t want the australorps to bully them before putting them all together. Is it always better to get at least 2 so they have a buddy?
1. When confined with a younger, different breed will they be ok?
2. If I get a different breed should it always be a min of 2?
2. Will they all be ok when put with the older flock - if I do the see but don't touch for the last 2 weeks.
Sorry, felt I needed to clarify my ramblings.

I would get at least two or more. Then I would wait til they get about the same size. The Plymouth blues grow pretty fast. My are now 8 weeks and are bigger than my Australops which are two weeks older. They are a pretty bird. I plan on breeding mine later to see what I get . Please post pics when you have them.

Well, I wonder if they’re the same size now? If yours are bigger than the ones 2 weeks older... and these are currently 2 weeks younger... I wonder if they’re pretty close? I’m going to be at the hatchery so I should be able to compare. Interesting to know about the growth rate...

They look beautiful! I ended up with 3 B Australorps and 2 Blue Ply Rocks. They are 1 week apart with the blues being younger at 4 weeks. I will post pics soon! Also is it typical for the price of chicks to go up as they age? I ended up paying 10$ ea! It was from Poultry Hollow and after her fire 2 years ago she no longer ships.

My New Plymouth Rock babies, at 4ish weeks old. The Australorps shown are 1 week older and the blues are already starting to our pace them. It’s funny to me who knows no better, but the blues don’t seem as curious as the australorps. They seem a bit more timid.

Blue Plymouth Rocks have to meet the breed standard. These are really blue hybrids like the Sapphire Gem. You aren't going to get true blue rocks from a feed store. They are a blue sex link. They just can't call them SG's because Hoover copyrighted that name and they would be infringing. Hard to find good info on BPR because of all the sex links coming up online now. True BPR are pretty rare.
