So I’m not finding a lot of info on blue Wyandottes, most threads and articles are on blue laced red Wyandottes. Is this type of breed not common? I’m new to this and it’s my first year with chickens. I have 8 Wyandottes and LOVE them to death but they are still not laying and I can’t find much info. I’ve posted a couple times before and I have done everything I was told, they’re almost 9 months old and none of them are laying. I’d like to do more research on the breed and maybe get some insight on whether this color is less common or not? Here are some photos (I also have a gold one in the pack, she is our favorite don’t tell the others)

Blue is a variety. Wyandotte is the breed. The rare birds tend to take longer to come into lay. Their breeding has been less manipulated for early lay. Even the common Silver Laced point of lay is much different if obtained from a breeder compared to hatchery stock.

My Blue Laced Red variety when hatched in spring don't come into lay until the following spring as I don't extend light in winter. Had a broody hatch 10 this Nov. and don't believe they will start laying this spring. I'd be happy if they started in June, and would be surprised if I got eggs from them sooner.

Thank you! They FINALLY started laying at 10 months old. Since it’s winter only 1 to 2 eggs a day but hopefully the rest will follow soon

Just realized the age of this OP. How are your Chickens doing Sara_nowo?Amazing, right, the feeling when you get your first egg! I have 5 gold laced Wyandottes and at 9 months old, in September they finally started laying and laid right through the winter. All 5 stopped this past September and havnt laid since! They are all very healthy, content and good diets/exercise. I look forward to the spring here in CT to see if they start laying. I think they will and it will be the happiest day! In fact, it may postpone my desire/need to get more chicks! (what I am thinking, lol. I cant wait to get more Chicks! Then i will have to change my BYC name.:wee

New too. Looking at your photos I’m guessing mine are the blue red laced. Mine are 26 weeks and not laying yet.
