Hello,

Hope there are some nice Wyandottes being shown. I would love to see what is being breed in Texas on Wyandottes. This will be my first time going to a poultry show. I will just be hanging out checking everyone out as a spectator.

Ofcourse I would also love to see some Ameraucanas too.

I hope that they have vendors with booths too as that would be nice. Wondering if the poultry shows are similiar to cat shows.

I went to this show with one of my best friends. It was the first show for both of us. We had a blast talking to lots of people who were so gracious to answer our questions with such detail! I got to meet WyandotteTX in person...and maybe others - but he was the only one who identified himself by his BYC ID! Anyway - I am now the happy owner of 2 light Bramaha (sp??) hens from the silent auctions and the most amazinly well crafted wood chicken crate I have ever seen!!

Julie,

Yes it was very nice to meet you and your friend. Two very nice, friendly ladies. That was a lovely carry crate she bought also, as were the light brahma pullets. I really enjoyed the show. Got to meet lots of new people and meet up with some old friends and talk chickens.
There were alot of birds and some really good quality specimens in many classes. Lots of the popular breeds but many you dont see too often also. I was really impressed with the Faverolles LF. The Blacks, Blues and White were massive and really gorgeous. I never found out who was showing them.
I will post a couple pics of them and will post some pics of a good friend of mines Partridge and SL Wyandotte Bantams. He has some really great birds.

These are some Wyandotte bantams raised and shown by a friend of mine. They are gorgeous....in my humble opinion.

Congrats on that beautiful carrier, Julie! My husband kept bidding on the smaller 5-hole one and was bested by a little girl.

I wish I would have gotten to meet you and your friends, Julie and you as well, Wyandotte.
We had a great time and I'm so glad the weather was so beautiful-unlike today!
Great job to all of the folks that put the show together and to all of the judges! Really nice venue at A&M!
I'll go back next year for sure.

This was my first show to go to and I thought it was really great. I was hoping for some blue wheaten ameraucanas but I didn't see any. How common is it for people to sell the birds that were entered in competition? I got a show list and stood by and tried to call people who had birds that I was interested in buying at the show but couldn't get ahold of anyone. I think the ones who had numbers listed( some didn't) were home phones and not cell phones. As this was my first show maybe this is not a common way to do things. I can always try again once they are home and see if they have fertile eggs for sale, but my understanding is that show people don't usually sell fertile eggs. I have alot of questions as I am new to this and although I'm not really interested in showing myself I'd like to buy some show quality(Or atleast a good representation of the breeds that I like) To my own back yard flock. Are there bigger shows that this? I'd like to see a show with more vendors (chicken products and accessories). How are the national shows? Any reccommendations? The last thing is I took some pictures of some nice birds at the show and would love to post some for the people who didn't get to attend, but as they are not my birds I don't know if this is o.k. If anyone knows if it is o.k. let me know and I'll post them. Thanks and it was a great show..

Thank you to everyone who worked to make the show so great! My family had a great time there and my kids were really pleased with the raffle (little bandits...lol). Just can't say enough good about it!

Thanks again,
Laurel
