Here is a picture in my files whos is it??? I cant remember. We will get a few more this year we got the Columbians out of Canada and Yard Full of Rocks is in charge of this project.

I have a freind Anthony who has my old white rocks from Calif and he is working on Partridge. He has a fellow from Minn who has some Partridge Rocks out of Canada and they are going to exchange them. Hopefully, we will have more bird for the next year. Its going to take about three years to get the numbers up to share with others. They just about went to the gutter.

So many breeds are in the same boat.

We need help. bob

Walt,

I forgot, where do you live and how do we get to your place. And when will you be gone?

I suggested to Pat Horstman that we knock you in the head and swipe one of those five SOP you brought to the national. Pat said you were hiding them from her as well. Then you FINALLY showed up with them. Was fun looking at the copy. Just not enough time to look at it all. I did order one for a Feb delivery date.

ok..for us just learning and all folks...how do i order a book for Feb delivery? I almost asked for the old copy for Christmas... Thanks so much for your time.

Just keep an eye on http://www.amerpoultryassn.com/APA_ShoppingMall3.htm for when the new SOP is listed for sale.

Barred Hollands... can yall give me a bit of background information on the breed? I'm pickin up 5 girls and a Roo, hopefully sometime this week, and I'm hoping there's some pictures, true pictures of how they should look, tucked away with yall somewhere!

And, aside from the fact that they lay white eggs...how to tell the difference between these and Barred Rocks? Body shape? Barring difference (fuzzier or sharper?)

Bob,

I think Danny Padget in Florida has good Partridge Rocks....

I have large fowl Partridge Wyandottes...they are a mess.

jenjscott as been researching the barred hollands. Pm her about what she's doing.

Took the words right out of my mouth!

Snowhunter, Jen is working on improving the Barred Hollands. The ones we have seen are more cuckoo, when they should be more barred, with a Australorp built or look to them. Check out http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/CGD/Holland/BRKHolland.html

Duane Urch is about the only breeder that offers chicks. Jen spoke with him at the Ohio national this year and really picked his brain concerning the Barred Hollands. Good luck with yours.

I know I'm behind, here are some pics I have ready. I will post some more of champion row as I am able.

The only "true" Picture I have seen is the SOP illustration. I haven't found any other old pictures. The barreds were bred from white leghorns, barred rocks, black australorp, and dark leghorns. In type they resemble more of the Australorp. The ones from Ideal are very undersized and more cuckoo. I have some shelleyb from e-fowl stock, but they are still very young. I am going to see if she will send me some good pics. If I remember right, the roos are supposed to be 8 pounds and the hens 5 or 6, can't remember. I'm going to have to look it up again. I am going to get some from Duane Urch, who says his are bred to standard, I haven't seen any of his stock. In the mean time, I am working toward increasing the size, improving the barring, and then will probably have to breed back to leghorn for egg color. If Urch's turn out to be close enough to standard, I may just work with his and see if I can get enough of a flock to promote the breed. Where are you getting your stock, and what line are they? Please post pics when you get them, and if you can, get a weight on them .... "pretty please"?

By the way, I got my first barred holland egg today, it was white, but I think not quite as white as a store bought white egg, but next to my buckeye and barred rock, it sure looked white. I haven't had a store bought white egg in so long, I'm not sure I remember right.
