lildinkem,

Picture 8 where you have "Lighting makes it difficult to get a good pic of these great RIRs"
That rooster is a Partridge Rock, the same with the hen in picture 7 is a Partridge Rock also.
I don't know if that was a typo or not but thought I would say something.

Chris

Kathy do not cross any barred rocks to the three trios that you got from Nebraska. If you do the Gods from Plymouth Rock heven will strike lighting onto your incubator. If you ever need to cross new blood you go back to Frank or Jerimie in Nebraska. If you out cross this line you will loose everything that has been built over the last fifty years. Stay with what you have and just try to tie a not on the end of the rope and hang on to what you got. Thats for your stain of Barred Rocks. I have always wanted to get a good strain and build it up or in the case of the Mowhawk Large Fowl Reds just try to keep from going backwards.. bob

Chris that is just my naivity to other quality breeds getting me mixed up. I do know Rick won for a RIR. And the pics with that sun had me remembering the wrong breed with the pic. There were some nice RIR's. just couldn't get pics of them all.

With all these pages I find some really nice looking quality birds.I know that so many breeds and varieties need more serious breeding and breeders.Hopefully this spirit of coperating ,sharing and helping continues and some rewards result. I have a question, and forgive me if I have missed something. I understand heritage to mean the very old varieties and breeds ,correct? What about all the light breeds and egg breeds? Leghorns,Minorcas,Campines,Polish,Hamburgs,Sumatra, bantams, etc.?It seems as if mainly meat and dual purpose breeds have been mentioned throughout the many pages. If these others old breeds are not heritage, what should we refer to them as?Just wondering.

I don't know the true answer to your question. BUT, I seen some of your Buff's Dan, and your birds are DEFINITELY worthy of being on this thread. In my opinion.

Ron Patterson? He's out that way.

A Patterson won several plaques. I think Ron Patterson is affiliated with the Boone County 4-H Club and only let his kids show to not violate the conflict of interet thing. And that is the only way I could win Best of Breed since Doug is the secretary and is incharge of handing out the cash to the judges.

Jonathan Patterson also has very good faverolles.

It seems that around here the last name Patterson equates to quality. Jack Patterson is an ole Stringman. And he down plays his knowledge. Then there is Ron who is Doug's friend. Looking at the Exhibitors list, I see a William Patterson, A Cindy and Jonathan Patterson. lololol

Ron has the best Large faverolles in white and salmon in the country! I believe Jonathan is his son.
