Just seen some Heritage RIR hatching eggs on eBay. These are from exhibition quality birds. We have seen them at some of our Arkansas shows.

I got my SOP last week. Brought it in, intending to get lookin through it later to start some flock evaluations... Haven't been able to get ahold of it yet. My 4yo daughter has been goin through it, looking at pictures of the birds and doin the bird/flock comparison for me

I ordered some Barred Hollands from Duane Urch back in January and got a call that they would ship in Feb. Never heard anything else, so I finally called and got hold of him tonight and he tells me they're not laying good enough to get a good hatch(he had told me 10 or 12 at the most) so He guessed I wouldn't be able to get any!

I ordered from Sandhill last December.
The check was cashed and then in January I got a letter saying that flock had been repeatedly devastated by OWLS, SKUNKS and RACOONS and they could not ship a full batch of chicks to me.

There was no other response..so I sent them an e-mail to fill the order best they could & then the rest with several other breeds I listed but do not really need.

I ask you this: What kind of """Preservation"" allows a flock of RARE heritage birds to repeatedly be devastated by night predators ?
In Ohio??
What are the birds living in trees for crying out loud ???
Has anyone actually been there ?
I have a nasty vision in my mind of crumbling coops and filth and vermine roaming the coops................

Never again.
People that will not protect these so called rare heritage birds are second to those that do not feed them well either..or care for them in any way!
I have since heard numerous nightmare stories about the condition and non SOP of their breeds...

The flock in Oklahoma is an ideal flock, Mr. Urch's are supposed to be SOP quality. However, I am awaiting an answer from him now if he will hold them for me until next Monday, I will drive up to get them. It will take several years to get them up to the standard, but I already have the other stock I need to get started.

I am hoping for some RC RIRs from him next month.
