I am from South Alabama and I grew up listening to quail in the wild. I got mine so I could listen to the calls.

How long to you keep them in a brooder and under a light? I am getting some bob white babies. I have an outdoor pen that had rabbits then chicks in it. I plan to thoroughly clean it but not certain about using something strong like bleach. I was thinking maybe peroxide then dusting with DE. I have a choice of hay or coarse sawdust (hardwood) or can put down newspaper. I am not sure if he will brood them a week or two or not at all. If I get them very young I will start them in the house in a large tote. In put appreciated. I have raised chickens of all ages and adult quail but this is a new adventure.

It is an off the ground pen with mostly wire bottom but part is wood bottomed.
