Bobcat caught& killed!- warning graphic pics

I don't know when you all clicked on this thread but when I just did it did say warning graphic pics. If that bobcat was close enough to the house to be shot it was only a matter of time before it attacked something else like a small child.. I have lived in the country my whole life and spent alot of time in the woods and I know one thing , bobcats are very elusive creatures. You just don't see them every day, it is like a cougar when they come near people it never turns out good, for the cat or the people. It is a shame that they have to be shot but, that is what has to happen to protect our animals and family:(

I am sorry a lot of people feel affended by the pictures. But if you all look up bobcats on the your computer you will see that they catch and eat birds as well as squirrels, rabbits, and small prey. So a bobcat in a human enviroment will eat chickens, family cats, small ankle biting dogs, and eventually maybe someone toddler. Not to long ago over here in Denver a little girl was attacked by a fox that set up home in a park acrossed the street. Even though they didnt see the bobcat actualy eat their chickens, chances are that since it was caught on their property it was the culprit. And there is a very slim chance they could have relocated it to a different area and expect it to not make its way back to farms, towns, or anywhere that would provide them with free easy meals. I admitt it is a beautiful animal, and it is kind of sad they had to kill it, but I also feel bad every time I catch a fox or a skunk in my live traps that have been place in the wire that makes it look like a possible entry to my chickens. No they did not kill any but they were sure trying, so if I just turned it loose I would risk them getting smart enugh that they just dig under the wire and kill them next time. So I dont blame them a bit for killing it. I am sure they didnt cause the animal to suffer in the process. And I imagine as long as they arent dealing with more than one their chickens will be safe

Just to clarify, we did see it the other day stalking around the chicken coop, and there was a chicken missing. We have lots of small animals: ducks and geese that free-range, and piglets in a pig pen, and turkeys as well. I also have a 5 year old, so letting the bobcat go wasn't an option. We had prove that it had taken a chicken on the game camera. We also know that there is a racoon around due to tracks but we don't have any proof yet that it has taken any of the chickens. I respect and admire all wild creatures but there comes a point where the safety of my animals and family must come first. My son likes to be around the chickens and I don't want him to get mauled by a bobcat. If I were to relocate it, it most likely would have terrorized someone elses property or animals. Anyway, it is already done, no going back now. I wouldn't change a thing either way. My animals and familly come first. Kathy

Good for you, now the chickens and your child will be safer than when that was roaming around. If it would have been a coon you probably wouldn't have heard a thing from the "sensitive bunch". I don't mean to offend anyone, but come on guys it's a fact of owning livestock. It's not like he just killed the cat for fun, there was a good reason for it and i would have done the same thing in his shoes. Just my 2 cents.....

Does anyone else think that this is way over dramatized?
Chickens kill innocent butterflies......
Bobcats kill innocent chickens......People kill innocent bobcats
I'm so glad I am still in control fo my own fingers and am not forced to click on things, I'm so greatful for the ability to turn the tv, radio, or even make the choice not to look at the things I don't like.

HA HA! They're scarred for life!

I am also really glad that I, and others, have the rights and ability to protect our property. C'mon folks
Start a thread that says " we don't do graphic pictures" and when the bobcat comes to eat you chickens you can just click on the graphic picture thread to get someone to come over and kill it, while you cover your eyes and complain that you can see it all through the spread of your fingers.

I am throughly suprised though that there are abunch of people who are upset by this thread. I know I have read and seen more graphic threads than this one. People have ( including myself) have talked about killing predators, and how to drowned skunks, so you dont have t deal with them spraying when shot. And even talked about riding small less harmful pests such as chip munks, squirrels. And Tons of people here will grab up their pitch forks, ( guns) and kill a nieghbors stray dog in a heart beat. But here we are dealing with a very dangerous predator that could easily kill a small child, and could eat its weight each day on peoples poultry , And its Oh no, poor animals. And shame shame, on the people who stepped up and ridded them selves of a lot of damage and loss. I cant believe it. And another thing Here in Colorado they have found Bats and a coyote that had rabies. So I know darn good and well that its something to worry about when there are wild predators coming this close to the human population. So its not fair for anyone to come on here and judge anyone who didnt set around and risk loosing a lot of moneyin their poultry, not to mention that most people here keep their chickens as pets as well, so it would have made their loss hurt even worse. THen to top it off they have a really small child that they werent willing to feed to the bobcat. So come on everyong stop down talking these people for doing what had to be done. It's not a bit fair. And if you guys dont want to look at it then dont open the thread. I also know that a lot f people here are so happy to hear and see pictures of dead poisionious snakes. But the same people are crushed to see a fury animal that is just about as dangerous as snake.

But then someone will start a thread which might be offensive the refers to the thread that someone can click on to ask for help to defend their chickens.

If you created a thread under the Meat Birds ETC showing how you harvested your stock of chickens to put in the freezor, is it required to put the word GRAPHIC in the title?

Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
