Well I dont like killing animals , but when it comes to protecting an animal like a chicken who would stand NO CHANCE of protecting his/her self against something like that - If you kill it make sure it is a sure shot and the animal does not suffer.( which I read you did ).
So good job protecting your flock I am sure if your chickens can say thank you they would LOL !!!!
