I understand your frustration with not being fast enough with the dogs. Unless you want to put 8-10 foot gates up you are going to have them jump the fence. I would not poison just in case your dogs or chickens touch it . The only thing that worked for us, and we live in the middle of the woods, is having a few pigs fenced in around the coop area. Our big momma gets very aggressive towards the coyotes when they get near, and our dogs have learned to stay out of her area. Before we had pigs we would have coyotes bring down a deer right on the front lawn.
